Go West! That's what we're gonna do!
I'm leaving. Tomorrow morning, I pack the last of my stuff into my car, drive out of Ontario, and in a few days, arrive back in Vancouver three years after I left, to the day. I've been wondering what I'm going to miss the most about Ontario. I've been here a while and I've been thinking that I've met some great people here, but man oh man, I could go on and on about that local library. It's fantastic!
However, in the past week the people really brought their A-game, and I've got to say that they've edged ahead of the library. The friends I've made here are some of the funniest, most intelligent, most welcoming people I ever thought I'd meet. Leaving would be much easier if you jerks had some flaws I could latch onto, but no, you've got to make this difficult. I'm leaving to go back to my family; I'm leaving because I've got a new nephew; but I'm leaving some good friends behind.
Other things I'll miss about Ontario? I'll miss this house that I live in, I'll miss the perpetually blue skies, I'll miss the adventure of exploring a city I don't know, I'll miss the strong comics community out here, and dammit, I'm going to miss the Hamilton Public Library. Seriously, they get so many graphic novels and comics TPBs there that even I can't read them all. I've read so many good comics because of that library. And their DVD collection! Don't get me started.
And you, I'd like to have seen you before I left; but we don't talk so much anymore. It's too bad; it would have been nice.
I always hesitated to leave before because I thought that once I did I'd never come back, but I see now that isn't true. I have plenty of things I don't like about you Ontario- what with your war machines and your ghetto scenes- but I'll be back, just try and keep me away.
